Sending Up a Flare

I’ve been meaning to post, but I’ve just been so busy and honestly, all this “going to the gym” stuff has me pretty wiped out. I’ve been hitting the gym in the mornings, cramming in 30-45 minutes of cardio before beginning my workday. I skipped today, though. I intended to go, then sort of missed the window. I decided to chalk it up to a rest day and I’ll just tack on an extra day this weekend. I think Super Bowl Sunday should granted me a nice spacious gym to have my way with.

Y’s inspired me to start going to classes again. I was looking at them in the window yesterday, doing their toning stuff and I think it might be a good environment to start working in more resistance. 24 Hour Fitness has some interesting classes, many of which focus on strength and toning, which is really what I need. I can cardio my ass off, literally, but I need someone to guide me in the “buns of steel” department. I think I’ll pick up a schedule tomorrow and see what they have to offer in February.

I’ve been trying lots of new food things lately, trying to experiment and see what I can get away with feeding my boyfriend. It’s kind of like a Folgers Crystals commercial when I make dinner these days. "Joelle’s secretly replaced the fatty ground beef in her boyfriend’s crunchy tacos with extra lean 99% fat free ground turkey. Let’s watch!" Oh, and Albertson’s crunchy taco shells are 2 Points® for 2 taco shells. Not too shabby.

I’ve got some reviews I’m working on for various food items and a few DVDs are on their way for me to try out. I’ve also decided today that I really want to learn how to belly dance. And not that cockamamie workout with the bellydancing twins because, while lovely, it’s annoying to me for some reason. I want to really learn as an art, not a workout. I think rediscovering the way my body can move and kind of claiming it again as a beautiful thing to be celebrated will help empower me even more. And, it’s a great workout, so I’ve heard. I think I might investigate some classes in the area. We’ll see.

I really want to be one of those “workout 6 days a week, eat nothing but fish and vegetables and in 3 months is totally sculpted and lovely” people, but y’know, as determined as I am, as motivated and persevering and driven as I may be, waking up with 19-year-old tits and a billion dollars is more likely. So, I just want to keep going as I can, working out 5 days a week at the gym (be it elliptical or a class), trying to incoporate other forms of movement, like dance or yoga or pilates and sticking to Plan as best as life allows.
